What The Hell Happened To RT Ohio?

RIP In Peace

RIP In Peace

Hello, friends.

You’re probably pretty confused right now, and I don’t blame ya. You didn’t expect me to pop up on your timeline or you expected to see your favorite Twitter account, RT Ohio.

RT Ohio is no more.

Allow me to explain.

I created RT Ohio originally to have a place where I could talk about sports, post dumb videos, and share highlights without bogging down my personal Twitter feed. As it grew over time, I started to make it more personal, sharing my identity and telling more personal stories and details about my life. I felt comfortable doing live streams and showing my face and such, without feeling too weird about it.

As I look towards my future and what it holds for me, I just don’t see RT Ohio being a part of it. Not the name, at least. The personality and voice that I have created on that account will live on, just with my name next to it instead of a picture of the state of Ohio. I’ve been blessed to have all of your support over the last few years, for those of you who have been here since the Nibbles days, all the way to those of you who are just now following me.

So who am I? I am Matt, the dude who has been running this account for the last three years. I have sent every tweet, good, bad, or indifferent. It’s been a ton of fun tweeting with you guys, and I look forward to the future ones. I know I’m gonna get some FAQ’s, so here are the answers before you ask them:

Why change the account?

Well, I didn’t really see a future for the “RT Ohio” personality, since I was already tweeting as myself and not anonymously. I figured it would make sense to just get rid of my personal and make my big one that people care about my new personal account.

Is the content going to be the same or are you just gonna post a ton of personal stuff?

The content — for the most part — will stay exactly the same. I’ll still make my Titanic videos, video edits, and horrible Reds tweets, but I will send out a few personal tweets here and there. But for the most part, it will still be largely sports related.

What will happen to your personal account?

Will likely go private after a few days, and sorta act as a backup to my new account. I will rarely (if ever) tweet from it.

Did the Warriors blow a 3–1 lead in the NBA Finals?

Yes.

Why on earth is this on OhVarsity?

I’M GLAD YOU ASKED. I will be joining the OhVarsity! team as their new Content Director. Basically I will be in charge of making the OhVarsity! Twitter account great with gifs, video highlights, edits, and more. It’s gonna be fun.

What now?

Well, I hope you can keep following what will now be @AllaireMatt. It is a “new beginning” of sorts, but a lot will stay the same. Looking forward to the future with all of ya. Flyer Faithful will be back and better soon, and The McNeil Show will continue to get better. I’m making a lot of changes in my life and this just seemed to make the most sense. If you don’t understand it, I get it. It’s sorta weird. But hopefully you can come on this journey with me.
